Forceps that he was using during his birth caused damage to a facial nerve leading to a droopy left eyelid and a speech impediment. After spending most of his childhood at boarding school, Stallone rejoined his family and moved in with them to Maryland when he turned five. After the separation of his parents in the year 1957, Stallone initially lived with his father. He later moved to Philadelphia at 15 years old to be with his newlywed mother. Due to his previous history of being expelled from school, he went to an institution for troubled teens.
